Significance of the Release
This film is noteworthy as it will be the first Pakistani movie to be released in Indian theatres in over ten years. The Legend of Maula Jatt is an official remake of the classic Pakistani film Maula Jatt. The story revolves around an epic clash between the ruthless gang leader Noori Natt, played by Hamza Ali Abbasi, and the local hero Maula Jatt, portrayed by Fawad Khan.
Background of the Ban
The Indian release of The Legend of Maula Jatt has created a buzz among fans, marking a rare chance to watch a Pakistani film on the big screen. Following the Uri terror attack in 2016, a ban was imposed on Pakistani artists in India. However, in November 2023, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition for a total ban on Pakistani performers and workers in India.
Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan's Work front
Both Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan have previously acted in Indian films. Fawad appeared in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Khoobsurat, while Mahira made her Bollywood debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Raees.
