India's public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati, is set to unveil its much-anticipated OTT platform at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 20, 2024. The service aims to showcase a vast archive of content from Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) alongside live TV and exclusive programming.

Key Features of the OTT Platform

Extensive Archives

The platform will offer rich archival content from Doordarshan and AIR, spanning decades of Indian history, culture, and entertainment.

Live TV and Sports

Users can stream live television, including sports events, broadening the platform's appeal to various audiences.

Exclusive Collaborations

Prasar Bharati has partnered with notable content providers such as Eros Now and Lionsgate to integrate their offerings as paid apps within the platform.

Multiple Formats and High Quality

Content will be available in standard definition (SD), high definition (HD), and even 4K resolution, ensuring a superior viewing experience.

Audio Identity

Like Netflix's iconic "tudum," the service will feature its unique audio logo, enhancing brand recognition.

Technology and Accessibility

The platform has been developed by RailTel, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud and content delivery. It will be accessible across Android, iOS, and web platforms.

Initially designed to support 10 million concurrent users, it is scalable to handle up to 100 million users, ensuring smooth functionality as user demand grows.

Monetization Model

The platform will operate as a free, ad-supported service (AVOD) at launch, with plans to introduce premium subscriptions in the future.

What’s Next?

The name, logo, and complete branding of the platform will be revealed during the official launch by Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The service marks a significant step in Prasar Bharati's efforts to modernize and expand its digital presence, catering to evolving audience preferences.
