Non-Bailable Warrant Issued

Varma was absent during the hearing, leading the court to issue a non-bailable warrant (NBW) for his arrest. The filmmaker has also been ordered to pay Rs 3.72 lakh in compensation to the complainant within three months or face an additional jail term.

Filmmaker Responds

In a statement, Ram Gopal Varma clarified that the case concerns a 7-year-old dispute involving Rs 2.38 lakh and an ex-employee. He alleged attempts to fabricate the matter, stating it wasn't about the money but refusing exploitation.

Case Details

The case was filed in 2018 by a company named Shree, represented by Maheshchandra Mishra. The court ruled against granting Varma any set-off under Section 428 of the CrPC, as he had not spent time in custody during the trial.
