Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has raised concerns over Ranveer Allahbadia ’s controversial comment on the roast show India’s Got Latent. She plans to bring up the matter in the Parliamentary panel of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. According to her, using abusive language under the guise of comedy is unacceptable.

Police Complaints in Multiple Cities

Several police complaints have been filed against Allahbadia and others involved in the show, including comedian Samay Raina and influencer Apoorva Makhija. Mumbai and Guwahati police are investigating the case. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that an FIR has been registered against multiple people, including YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani and comedian Jaspreet Singh, for promoting obscene content.

Maharashtra CM Responds

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the controversy, stating that while freedom of speech is important, it should not cross ethical boundaries. He emphasized that appropriate action would be taken if necessary.

The Controversial Remark

The controversy started when a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, showing Ranveer Allahbadia asking a contestant an inappropriate question. The remark drew severe criticism, leading to widespread outrage on social media.

Apology from Ranveer Allahbadia

Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology. He admitted that his comment was inappropriate and not funny. He stated that comedy is not his strength and acknowledged his lapse in judgment. He assured that he does not wish to use his platform for such content in the future.

Industry Reactions

Singer B Praak, who was scheduled to appear on Allahbadia’s podcast, canceled his participation and urged comedians to be mindful of the content they create. The incident has reignited debates on the quality and ethics of comedy in digital media.

This controversy highlights the growing concerns over inappropriate content in online entertainment and the potential consequences creators may face for crossing the line.
