Rapper A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, was acquitted of all charges in a three-week trial related to a 2021 shooting incident in Hollywood. He was accused of firing a gun at his former friend, Terrell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli. However, after reviewing the evidence, a jury of 12 members—five men and seven women—declared him not guilty.

Rihanna ’s Emotional Response

As soon as the verdict was announced, Rocky celebrated by hugging his longtime partner, Rihanna, who stood by his side throughout the trial. Shortly after, Rihanna took to Instagram, writing, "The glory belongs to God and God alone. Thankful. Humbled by his mercy."

Rocky’s Reaction and Gratitude

Rocky, visibly relieved, expressed his appreciation to the jury, saying, "Thank y'all for saving my life." Speaking outside the courthouse, he added, "I'm thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y'all."

Trial Highlights: Rocky Chose to Fight in Court

Rocky did not testify in his defense and had previously rejected a plea deal that would have resulted in a six-month prison sentence. If convicted, he could have faced up to 24 years behind bars. Instead, he chose to fight the case and was ultimately acquitted.

The 2021 Shooting Incident

The case stemmed from a confrontation outside the W Hotel in Hollywood on November 6, 2021. Ephron alleged that Rocky pointed a gun at him and fired, with one bullet grazing his hand. The two were part of the A$AP Mob, a collective founded in 2006 that included rappers, designers, and creatives.

Rihanna ’s Support Throughout the Trial

Rihanna was a constant presence in the courtroom, even attending the trial’s closing arguments with their two children on February 13. Her unwavering support became one of the key talking points surrounding the case.
