How Did the Hack Happen?
Elnaaz received a disturbing email with her password as the subject line. Upon opening it, she found her private pictures attached along with a message warning her to respond immediately if she didn’t want them leaked online. The email also hinted at further exposure if she failed to comply.
After contacting cyber police, she was informed that the hacker’s server was traced to Switzerland. Upon investigation, it was found that Elnaaz had unknowingly clicked on a suspicious link and filled out an online form, which may have allowed the hacker to access her personal data.
Elnaaz Norouzi Speaks Out
In an interview with ETimes, Elnaaz shared her distress,"I found my private pictures attached with a message that said, ‘I have your pictures. If you don’t want them posted online, reply to me as soon as possible.’ I am terrified that my private photos may already be online. I go to bed anxious and wake up in the same state. This has affected my mental health, and I had to seek therapy to deal with the fear."
