Sanjay Kapoor Reflects on Industry Ups and Downs

In a recent interview with Timeout With Ankit, Sanjay Kapoor opened up about his journey in Bollywood and how his daughter Shanaya has grown up witnessing the highs and lows of the entertainment industry.

He remarked, “This industry is not a bed of roses. One day, you might be at the top, and the next, you could be sitting at home.” Despite the unpredictability, Sanjay encouraged aspiring actors, including Shanaya, to chase their dreams without fear, highlighting that success and failure are integral to life in the spotlight.

Industry Lessons Passed Down

Sanjay revealed that he never had a formal discussion with his children about the challenges of showbiz because they had already observed everything firsthand. “My children have seen me face ups and downs and have learned from my persistence. Times have changed, and today, it's an exciting era to be part of the industry,” he added.

He also emphasized that success is a relative concept. "It’s not always about being number one. Job satisfaction is equally important. For instance, someone might become a successful businessman but still feel unfulfilled if acting was their real dream," he explained.

Nervousness Is Natural

Sanjay admitted feeling nervous, both as a parent and as an actor, as Shanaya embarks on her journey. He likened this nervousness to the jitters experienced by even the biggest stars when they step into a new role. “Nervousness shows that you care and that you’re not taking your stardom for granted. Overconfidence, on the other hand, can be dangerous,” he stated.
