Mufasa: The Lion King

Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, the prequel to the iconic The Lion King, may not have been a global blockbuster, but in India, it’s a different story. The Hindi version, voiced by Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, and AbRam Khan, has outperformed the English original voiced by Aaron Pierre, Donald Glover, and Braelyn Rankins.

Impressive Box Office Numbers

As of Day 23, the film has collected an impressive ₹129.83 crore globally, with the Hindi version leading the charge at ₹47.01 crore. The English version follows closely with ₹45.25 crore, while the Tamil and Telugu versions, voiced by Arjan Das and Mahesh Babu respectively, stand at ₹21.7 crore and ₹16.25 crore.

SRK ’s Family Power at the Box Office

The success of the Hindi version highlights the influence of Shah Rukh Khan and his family, even with just their voices. Fans have flocked to theaters to witness the magic of their favorite Bollywood superstar, making the Hindi dub a significant contributor to the film's earnings.

Challenges and Future Prospects

The film’s weekend collections dipped slightly due to the release of Ram Charan’s Game Changer and NBK’s Daaku Maharaj. However, with Game Changer struggling to create box office magic, Mufasa: The Lion King could see a resurgence in its performance. The Hindi version is expected to cross the ₹50 crore mark before its theatrical run concludes.

Aiming for The Lion King ’s Record

While the overall collection is still behind the 2019 The Lion King India total of ₹158 crore, Mufasa shows promise of inching closer in the coming weeks.
