Shilpa Shirodkar Recalls 'Death Rumour' During Raghuveer Shoot
In 1995, during the shoot of Raghuveer, a disturbing rumour spread like wildfire — that actress Shilpa Shirodkar had been shot dead. The film, starring Suniel Shetty and a stellar supporting cast, was being shot in Kullu Manali when the false news surfaced, leaving her family and fans in a state of panic.

Family Panic as Shilpa Receives Over 20 Missed Calls
Shilpa recently revisited this incident in a chat with Pinkvilla. She revealed that her father had been desperately trying to contact her at the hotel, but mobile phones weren’t common at that time. “When I returned to the room, I saw 20-25 missed calls. My parents were worried sick. A newspaper even published a headline saying I had been shot dead,” she recalled.
It Was a Promotional Stunt, Says Shilpa Shirodkar
To Shilpa’s surprise, the producers later admitted it was a promotional strategy to create buzz around the movie. “There was no PR system in place then. Nobody took permissions. I found out much later. It did feel like too much, but I didn’t get angry because the film eventually did well,” she said.
Shilpa Shirodkar Returns to Films With ‘Jatadhara’
After years away from the spotlight, Shilpa is now making a strong comeback with Jatadhara, a pan-India supernatural thriller. The film, set around the mysterious Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, blends mythology with suspense and stars Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha. This marks Shilpa’s return post her stint on Bigg Boss 18.
