Sikandar Box Office Day 1: Salman Khan’s Film Falls Short of Chhaava’s Start
Sikandar Box Office Day 1: Salman Khan’s latest film Sikandar was released on Eid, marking his return to the big screen after two years. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, features Rashmika Mandanna in a crucial role. Despite high expectations, its pre-release buzz was lower than Salman’s past Eid blockbusters.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, Sikandar earned around Rs.26 crore in India on its opening day across all languages. However, it failed to surpass Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which had a stronger debut with Rs.31 crore.

Sikandar’s Impact on L2: Empuraan
Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan had been performing exceptionally well at the box office before Sikandar’s release. Within two days, the film crossed Rs.100 crore worldwide, and its total earnings currently stand at Rs.138 crore, with Rs.85 crore coming from overseas. On Sunday, it earned Rs.14 crore in India, showing an increase compared to the previous days. However, Sikandar’s arrival has affected its domestic earnings.
As of now, L2: Empuraan has collected Rs.59.35 crore in India, and its overall box office trajectory might see further fluctuations in the coming days.
Sikandar Outperforms Some Big Releases
With its first-day earnings, Sikandar has entered the list of top Bollywood openers, securing the 37th position. It has surpassed films like Akshay Kumar’s Gold, Prabhas’ Saaho, Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, and the MS Dhoni biopic. However, it still needs a strong hold over the weekend to establish itself as a major hit.
Can Sikandar Break Salman Khan’s Own Records?
Among Salman Khan’s highest-grossing films in India, Tiger Zinda Hai leads with Rs.339.16 crore, followed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan with Rs.320 crore. For Sikandar to join the list of Salman’s biggest blockbusters, it will need consistent growth over the coming days.
Trade experts believe that while Sikandar has the potential to be a massive success, its real test will be the weekend and the following weeks. Some even speculate that if the film performs exceptionally well, it could help Salman enter the ₹500-crore club.
