Suzhal - The Vortex Season 2 Review: A Thriller That Falls Short
Suzhal - The Vortex Season 2 Review: When Suzhal - The Vortex first released in 2022, it set a new benchmark for Tamil web series with its unique blend of folklore, faith, and crime. The gripping mystery and strong performances made it a breakthrough hit. However, Season 2 fails to live up to expectations, delivering a stretched-out storyline and weak character development.

Promising Start That Fizzles Out
The sequel picks up with Nandhini (Aishwarya Rajesh) in prison for her crimes from the first season. SI Sakkarai (Kathir) is investigating her case while lawyer Chellappa (Lal) tries to clear her name. The story takes a turn when Chellappa is found dead in a locked-room mystery, setting the stage for an intense investigation.
While the first two episodes effectively build tension, the plot quickly becomes predictable. The once-engaging small-town atmosphere feels generic this time, and the coastal backdrop of Kaalipattanam fails to create the immersive experience of the first season.
Mystery That Lacks Depth
The Ashtakaali festival is meant to add a cultural layer to the story, much like the festival in Season 1. However, this time, the connection between the festival and the murder mystery feels forced. The characters, who were layered and engaging in the first season, now feel one-dimensional.
The investigation lacks suspense, and even the police work by Sakkarai and Moorthy (Saravanan) fails to keep viewers engaged. The prison sequences, which could have been thrilling, turn out to be underwhelming and predictable.
Underutilized Characters and a Rushed Climax
One of the biggest disappointments is Nandhini’s character arc. She has little to do for most of the series and is used only for basic plot progression. The big reveal towards the end lacks impact, as many viewers might predict the twist long before it happens.
By the time all the puzzle pieces fall into place, the sense of déjà vu is strong. Season 2 fails to capture the tight screenplay, atmospheric tension, and sharp dialogues that made the first season a hit.
Final Verdict
While Suzhal - The Vortex Season 2 had the potential to deliver another engaging mystery, it struggles with pacing, character depth, and overall execution. If you’re a fan of the first season, this sequel might feel like a letdown.
