Making of The film 'Greatest Of All Time'
The film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 68 before its official announcement in May 2023, is produced by AGS Entertainments. With a budget ranging between Rs 300-400 crore, it is one of the most expensive productions in Indian cinema. Thalapathy Vijay’s double role in the film was initially rumored to fetch him Rs 150 crore, but producer Archana Kalpathi revealed in an interview with Galata that Vijay's actual fee was Rs 200 crore, making him the highest-paid actor in India, surpassing icons like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, and Prabhas.
Why Thalapathy Vijay Commands Such High Fees?
Producer Archana Kalpathi explained that Vijay’s enormous remuneration is justified by his impressive box office record and ever-increasing market value. In 2023, Vijay's film Leo became his seventh consecutive blockbuster, with each film grossing over Rs 200 crore. Collectively, these films have earned more than Rs 2000 crore at the box office, solidifying Vijay’s position as a bankable star across multiple markets.
A Profitable Venture
The Greatest Of All Time has already turned profitable for its producers, recouping more than its budget through pre-release deals, including satellite, digital, music, and theatrical rights. The anticipation for the film is sky-high, evidenced by the film’s trailer, released on August 17, which became the most-watched Tamil film trailer in 24 hours with 33 million views.
Thalapathy Vijay’s unprecedented fee and the early success of GOAT underscore his dominance in the Indian film industry, further elevating his status as a pan-Indian superstar.
