Rajinikanth and Dhanush Were the Original Choices
According to a report by News 18 Malayalam, GOAT was initially planned to feature two other big names: Rajinikanth and Dhanush. The original storyline had Rajinikanth playing the father and Dhanush playing the son. Director Venkat Prabhu crafted the script with these iconic actors in mind. However, the introduction of de-aging technology, which allows actors to appear younger, led the director to rethink the casting. This technology influenced the decision to bring Thalapathy Vijay on board for the lead role. Although this change has been widely reported, there hasn't been an official confirmation.
Vijay’s Dual Role in GOAT
In GOAT, Vijay takes on two significant roles. He portrays Gandhi, a skilled hostage negotiator, and also plays Gandhi’s son, Jeevan. The film’s plot centers around Gandhi, who works for the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), an elite unit that collaborates with RAW and operates out of Chennai. After his retirement, Gandhi and his team must confront challenges linked to their past missions, setting the stage for an action-packed narrative.
