The Bengal Files: Trailer Launch in Kolkata Called Off, Director Vivek Agnihotri Reacts Strongly
The Bengal Files: Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has been in the spotlight for his upcoming film The Bengal Files. The trailer was set to release in Kolkata on August 16, but just before the event, the launch was cancelled. Despite the setback, Agnihotri has asserted that the trailer will still be unveiled in Bengal.

Vivek Agnihotri Shares His Concern
Speaking in a video, Agnihotri revealed that the team had booked a theatre, completed contracts, and finalized arrangements, but was later informed that the event would not take place. He called the development “bad news” and expressed disappointment at the sudden cancellation.
Allegations of Political Pressure
According to Agnihotri, the cancellation happened due to political pressure. While the theatre did not give an official reason, he questioned: “Which political party wants to suppress our voice? Why is there opposition to a film that has already received censor clearance?”
Promise to Release in Bengal
Agnihotri declared that he will not back down. Referring to the tragic events of August 16 in Bengal’s history, he said the truth cannot be hidden. “No matter what, the trailer will be launched here in Kolkata,” he added, urging people to support free speech.
