Many Bollywood stars began their careers as child actors, and some of them eventually became leading stars. One such name is Fatima Sana Shaikh. She appeared as a child in the 1997 hit film ‘Ishq’, sharing screen space with stars like Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Juhi Chawla, and Aamir Khan. In one scene, she can be seen sitting in Kajol’s lap wearing a pink and white frock.

Fatima Sana Shaikh has also Worked With Shah Rukh Khan

After her debut in Ishq, Fatima also featured in ‘Chachi 420’ directed by Kamal Haasan, and later in ‘One Two Ka Four’ with Shah Rukh Khan. Though these roles were small, they gave her a strong start.

'Dangal' Made Her a Star Overnight

Fatima’s big break came in 2016 with the blockbuster ‘Dangal’, where she played the role of Geeta Phogat. The film, based on real-life wrestling champions, became a massive success. Made on a Rs.70 crore budget, it earned more than Rs.387 crore in India and crossed Rs.2000 crore worldwide.

Faced Setbacks After 'Thugs of Hindostan'

After the success of Dangal, she starred in ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Katrina Kaif. Unfortunately, the film failed at the box office. Fatima later revealed that she lost two film offers after this and started doubting her acting skills.

Bounced Back With 'Ludo' and More

Director Anurag Basu cast her in ‘Ludo’, which helped Fatima regain her confidence. Since then, she has earned praise for her roles in ‘Dhak Dhak’ (2023) and ‘Sam Bahadur’.

She is currently working again with Basu in his upcoming film ‘Metro…In Dino’.
