Without naming anyone, Varun Grover said, “These are just jokes. The venue has nothing to do with it. Even I don’t. Blame our times. If you’re offended, break a clock!” His clever remark got laughs from the audience and also hinted at the recent backlash against comedians.

His comment came just days after Kunal Kamra faced criticism for making fun of Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde. Kamra performed a parody of the Bollywood song Bholi Si Surat, where he called Shinde a "traitor" for splitting from the Uddhav Thackeray-led government in 2022.

The parody clip went viral on social media and triggered a strong reaction from the Shiv Sena. Some party workers even vandalised the show venue, leading to the arrest of 12 people. A police case was also filed against Kamra.

Despite the controversy, Kunal Kamra refused to apologise. Reports say he told the police he doesn’t regret what he said and will only say sorry if the court asks him to. He also assured that he would follow the law.
