Vyjayanthi Movies Confirms Deepika Padukone’s Exit from Kalki 2898 AD Sequel

Deepika Padukone will not return in Kalki 2898 AD’s sequel. The makers of the film confirmed her exit, stating that the project “deserves commitment and much more.”

In a surprising turn, Vyjayanthi Movies announced that Deepika Padukone, who played SUM-80 in Kalki 2898 AD, will not be part of the sequel. The makers shared in an official statement that despite collaborating on the first film, they were unable to build a long-term partnership with the actress.

Official Statement from Producers

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the production house wrote, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”

About Kalki 2898 AD

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is a mythological sci-fi epic set in a dystopian future inspired by the Mahabharata. The star cast includes Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani. Deepika played SUM-80, also known as Sumathi, the prophesied mother of Kalki, making her role central to the storyline.

Deepika Padukone ’s Recent Project Exits

This isn’t the first time Deepika has stepped away from a big project. Earlier this year, she reportedly exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit due to differences over work schedules, remuneration, and creative disagreements.
