Filmmaker Renu Chopra recently expressed her gratitude towards Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) for supporting her son Abhay Chopra’s debut film Ittefaq (2017). In an interview with Pinkvilla, she revealed that SRK backed the project without even reading the script, showing immense faith in the filmmaker rather than just the story.

Renu Chopra recalled how Shah Rukh Khan, despite his busy schedule, treated her with great respect. He even suggested meeting her instead of asking her to come to him. However, after waiting three weeks, she finally decided to visit him. She was overwhelmed by his warm welcome and willingness to support the film.

One of the most remarkable things Renu Chopra shared was how Shah Rukh Khan refused to take interest on the money he invested in Ittefaq. He called it ‘haraam’ (forbidden) and made sure the financial split remained equal even after the film’s release.

Ittefaq, starring Akshaye Khanna, Sidharth Malhotra, and Sonakshi Sinha, was released in November 2017. The film performed well at the box office and received positive reviews for its gripping storyline and strong performances.
