Zakir Hussain Died: The legendary tabla player Zakir Hussain died on Monday morning (Indian time) in a hospital in San Francisco. According to media reports, his family gave this information on Monday. According to Hussain's family, he died due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

He was 73 years old and was admitted to the hospital for the last two weeks. Later, when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the ICU, but the doctors could not save him.

Has won Grammy Award 5 times

Zakir Hussain was one of India's most popular and distinguished classical musicians. In 1988 he was awarded Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan in 2002 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023. He was the son of legend Allah Rakha. During an illustrious career spanning six decades, he won many international honors, including five Grammy Awards. He also received three awards last year.

His first performance at the age of 12

Zakir Hussain, born on 9 March 1951 in Mahim, Mumbai, was fond of playing tabla from a very young age. Zakir Hussain learned to play mridang (a classical instrument) from his father at the age of three. He started performing in music shows at the age of 12. Zakir Hussain did his early studies from St. Michael's School in Mahim, Mumbai, while he graduated from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.

He received a doctorate in music from Washington University. Zakir Hussain was invited by former US President Barack Obama to the White House to participate in the All-Star Global Concert. Zakir Hussain also worked in about 12 films.
