Strict rules were implemented under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP 4). These included a complete ban on construction activities and a ban on the entry of non-essential polluting trucks in the city, which has now been restored. However, restrictions under Grapes 1, 2 and 3 will remain in force in Delhi.

Ban under GRAP-4 was lifted

The restrictions under Grape 4 included a ban on all construction activities, stopping the entry of non-essential polluting trucks into Delhi and mandatorily operating school classes in hybrid mode except for classes 10 and 12. Now these restrictions have been removed.

Improvement in pollution in Delhi

The improvement in air quality was due to favorable meteorological conditions, including better wind speed as per forecasts by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Institute of Meteorology (IITM). The measures were aimed at reducing severe pollution levels and included a ban on industrial activities, construction and entry of non-essential and polluting trucks.
