Manipur Grapples with Dual Challenges: Unrest Fuels Violence While Landslide Triggers Highway Blockade, Leaving 500 Trucks Stranded for Supplies

Officials said on Thursday that the landslide occurred due to incessant rains for the past few days. At least 500 goods vehicles are stuck in different parts of the highway due to landslides. Violence-hit Manipur has been hit by yet another trouble. Heavy rains triggered a massive landslide in Noney district here, blocking the Imphal-Silchar highway. Not only this, at least 500 goods vehicles have been trapped here due to landslides.

Officials said that the landslide occurred on National Highway 37 between Irang and Awangkhul Part 2, Khongsang and Awangkhul, and Rangkhui villages on Wednesday. He said work is underway to clear the route and resume traffic movement.

According to him, the recent days of nonstop rain were to blame for the landslide. Due to landslides, at least 500 freight cars are stranded along the highway in various locations.
