Evacuation Initiated on Pune-Bound Vistara Flight After Bomb Threat; Aircraft Inspection in Progress
A bomb threat directed at a Vistara flight bound for Pune resulted in the evacuation of passengers at Delhi's airport.
The aircraft, traveling from Delhi to Pune, was subjected to a comprehensive inspection due to the reported bomb threat. The incident briefly disrupted operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The threat was communicated through a call made to the GMR call center earlier today at approximately 7:30 am, coinciding with the ongoing boarding process.
To ensure safety, passengers were promptly deboarded from the plane and relocated to a secure location.
Amidst the situation, passengers are maintaining a composed demeanor and are being looked after by the flight's cabin crew, who are offering beverages and snacks, as shared by a source knowledgeable about the situation. The flight is expected to resume once authorities give the green light, the source added, requesting anonymity.
Vistara's spokesperson issued a statement acknowledging the delay of flight UK971, slated for travel from Delhi to Pune on August 18, 2023. The delay stemmed from mandatory security checks, and the airline has been cooperating with relevant security agencies.
The airline is working to minimize any inconvenience to passengers by providing refreshments. The statement underlined Vistara's unwavering commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of both customers and crew.
Presently, the veracity of the bomb threat has not been officially confirmed by authorities.
