This stadium has previously hosted the opening matches of the 1970 and 1986 World Cups. The United States will begin its campaign the next day, June 12, against Paraguay in Los Angeles, while the Canadian team will play its first match against the winner of UEFA Playoff-A in Toronto. Lionel Messi's Argentina team is in Group J. Defending champions Argentina will face Algeria in their first match, followed by matches against Austria and Jordan.
