Fire broke out at a chemical plant in Sachin GIDC in Surat, Gujarat
Following an explosion on Wednesday that left 24 workers injured, a fire broke out at a chemical plant in Surat, Gujarat, according to officials.
According to Chief Fire Officer Basant Pareek, who is in charge of Surat, the chemical factory in the Sachin GIDC industrial area caught fire at around two in the morning as a result of flammable chemicals that were kept in a large tank bursting.
According to him, at least 24 employees were hurt and taken to a hospital where they are receiving treatment.
The number of workers inside the factory at the time of the incident was not immediately known, he said. According to a second official, the explosion destroyed the entire unit and started a fire in the factory's three-story building.

He stated that efforts were being made to contain the fire after more than a dozen fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
