Canada's assertion regarding India's potential involvement in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar has garnered attention and concern from the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, which includes the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, in addition to Canada. The alliance has labeled these allegations as serious.

The US, in particular, expressed deep concern over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's statement concerning India's role. White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson emphasized the importance of Canada's investigation proceeding and the need to bring the perpetrators to justice. The UK also characterized the allegations as serious and backed Canada's investigation to ascertain India's potential involvement in the Sikh leader's killing.

Australian Foreign Ministry conveyed its concerns to India at senior levels, noting ongoing investigations into the matter and emphasizing respect for sovereignty and the rule of law.

The Washington Post reported that the Five Eyes alliance privately raised the issue before the G20 summit rather than issuing a joint condemnation of Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau also discussed the matter with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Regarding the alliance, Australian PM Anthony Albanese refrained from discussing Five Eyes intelligence at a press conference, emphasizing that they do not speculate on intelligence matters.

Justin Trudeau had strongly urged India to cooperate with Canada after the expulsion of a senior Indian diplomat, Pavan Kumar Rai, for his alleged involvement in Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing.
