Flood like situation in Bharuch, Narmada flowing over danger mark
Water level of Narmada River has risen to 33 feet crossing the mark of danger after receiving heavy rainfall over past week. Over 2000 people have been evacuated and taken to safe places. Cattles have also been evacuated.
Trains operating between Bharuch and Ankleshwar of Vadodara division have also been disturbed and stand cancelled as the water level rise from the marked level on Bharuch Bridge. "Due to water level being above danger mark on bridge no 502 between Bharuch & Ankleshwar of Vadodara Div., following trains of 18/09 i.e. today is cancelled." said the railway department in a twitter post.
The region has received heavy rainfall over the past weekend. Heavy rainfall in the catchment area has resulted in releasing water from Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada. As a result 8 train connecting Vadodara and Ekta Nagar(where statue of unity is located) have been cancelled for today.
Heavy Rainfall causing floods
The government has taken steps to manage the situation. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed due to heavy rain. Two teams of NDRF deployed in Narmada, one in Bharuch, one in Junagadh, One in Panchmahal, one in Rajkot, one in Vadodara, three teams of SDRF each deployed in Narmada and Vadodara. One team each for Banaskantha, Bharuch, Dahod and two teams of Army are at standby in Vadodara.
Heavy Rainfall has also caused havoc in Madhya Pradesh with thousands of people evacuated from risk zones to safe places. Indore has faced sever waterlogging after heavy downpour on Sunday. Five people reportedly swept away in pond in Jhabua district after the pond overflowed. Amongst those five people, three are rescued while 2 are still missing. Administration has also declared holidays in Ujjain and Indore for the next two days. 900 people in Ujjain itself have been rescued. Ujjain's Swaminarayan Temple was also submerged in rain and the SDRF team rescued 30 people from the temple. Flood like situation has appeared in parts of MP and Western MP.
