Forbes named Nirmala Sitharaman the highest-ranking Indian woman
Forbes released its annual list of the Most Powerful Women, and four Indians were included in the 2023 edition. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, is the highest-ranking Indian woman on the list.
Along with FM Sitharaman, three Indian businesswomen were named to Forbes' list of the world's most powerful women, which also includes Taylor Swift and US Vice President Kamala Harris.
While Nirmala Sitharaman was ranked 32nd on the Forbes list, the other three Indians were HCL Corporation CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra (ranked 60), Steel Authority of India chairperson Soma Mondal (ranked 70), and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (ranked 76).
She made history by her remarkable achievements
In 2019, India appointed Nirmala Sitharaman as its Finance Minister. In addition, she is the Minister of Union Corporate Affairs. Prior to this, Sitharaman held the position of India's 28th defense minister, making history as the second woman to hold both of these positions.
The finance minister was placed 36th on Forbes' list of the 2022 most powerful women last year. She was recognized by Fortune as India's most powerful woman in the meanwhile.
Roshni Nadar is the second-ranked Indian woman on the list
Roshni Nadar, the billionaire daughter of businessman Shiv Nadar, is the second-ranked Indian woman on the list. In July 2020, she assumed the role of HCL's Chairperson, overseeing all strategic choices made by the organization.
Compared to well-known female celebrities like Donna Langley (Rank 54), Rihanna (Rank 74), and Beyonce (Rank 36), Nirmala Sitharaman is ranked higher. Melinda Gates, Jane Fraser, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni are among the other women in the top 10.

Ursula von der Leyen is ranked first on the list of the most powerful women
Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is ranked first on the list of the most powerful women, followed in second place by Christine Lagarde, head of the European Central Bank. US Vice President Kamala Harris comes in at 3rd place.
