The ministers of health, mining and energy, research and technology, labour, and finance, among others, attended these discussions.

Lula applauded this inclusive strategy, calling it a novel method for nations to take part in such meetings. He stressed that the issue is not only at the presidential level but it affects the entire administration as well as the general public.

He said Brazil had learned a lot from this strategy and will apply many of these lessons to their own G20 summit the following year.

Lula praised Prime Minister Modi when asked what he thought of him. He spoke favourably of the late Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and that he had an exceptional rapport with Prime Minister Modi.

In May, after becoming Brazil's president for third term, Lula met with PM Modi for the first time.

While acknowledging the challenges of running such a varied nation as India, Lula praised Modi for his sincere dedication to the welfare of the Indian people. He also mentioned that Modi had already been re-elected once and might do so once more in next year. He saw this as an expression of the general public appreciating Modi's efforts.

Lula contrasted the economic development of the two nations, saying that Brazil had fallen from sixth to twelfth place while India had risen from fifteenth to sixth.
