On the second day of the G20 Summit, world leaders and delegation heads gathered at Rajghat, where they paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi while being serenaded by live renditions of his cherished devotional songs. The G20 also extended a warm welcome to the African Union, designating it as a permanent member.

The summit took place at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre in New Delhi on September 9, with India, in its capacity as the G20 presidency, promoting the theme "One Earth, One Family, One Future."

Notable attendees included US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, South Korean President, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Spain's Vice-President Nadia Calvino, Egypt President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa, Managing Director of IMF Kristalina Georgieva, and other leaders and delegates.

The solemn occasion at Rajghat allowed leaders to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, whose principles of nonviolence and peaceful resistance remain a guiding light for many. The live performance of his favorite devotional songs added a touch of spirituality to the proceedings.

The G20 Leaders' Summit, with its overarching theme of global unity and cooperation, is a platform for the world's largest economies to come together and address pressing global challenges. The decision to include the African Union as a permanent member underlines the commitment to inclusivity and representation in international forums.
