Goa Launches 'Goa Taxi App' for Seamless Travel Experience
The Tourism Department of Goa has introduced the 'Goa Taxi App' to enhance travel convenience for residents and tourists in the state, as announced in a government release dated 15 September.

This initiative also promises cost advantages to passengers. With this app, residents and tourists can easily book a taxi from the comfort of their homes or hotels, simplifying their travel arrangements.
Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, expressed his government's commitment to improving the quality of life and happiness index for both tourists and residents. "Our goal is to attract quality visitors rather than numbers," he said. The app not only enhances convenience but also contributes to safety by reducing accidents and ensuring the security of female travelers. Chief Minister Sawant urged everyone to use the app, commending those who have already done so.

The 'Goa Taxi App' offers simplicity and convenience by allowing users to book a taxi at any time, day or night. This is especially beneficial for tourists who may prefer a professionally driven cab over self-driven vehicles in an unfamiliar region.
Navigating unfamiliar territory with apps like Google Maps can be daunting. The unified taxi app system addresses this concern by enabling passengers to rate drivers, report any inappropriate behavior, and request assistance through a dedicated call center. Additionally, the app includes an SOS feature for emergencies, malfunctions, and safety issues related to female travelers.
Rohan A Khaunte, Goa's Minister of Tourism, emphasized the app's significance in a state where tourism plays a pivotal role. "Both tourists and the local Goan population will benefit from it," he stated. The app adheres to approved pricing by the Director of Transportation. Already operational at the MOPA airport for the past six months, it has served approximately 30,000 tourists. Efforts are underway to expand its availability beyond coastal areas to industrial estates, encouraging carpooling and other sustainable initiatives.
The 'Goa Taxi App' operates as a hassle-free 24/7 booking service, allowing passengers to provide real-time feedback and rate drivers. A dedicated call center is available to address any issues or concerns, ensuring a safe and enjoyable travel experience.
The launch event saw the presence of key dignitaries, including GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar, Goa Secretary of Tourism Sanjay Goel IAS, and Goa Director of Tourism Suneel Anchipaka IAS, underscoring the government's commitment to improving transportation services and the overall tourist experience in Goa.
