Chart will be prepared 10 hours before departure

For trains departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM and from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, the first reservation chart will be prepared 10 hours before the train's departure. Earlier, the reservation chart was prepared only 4 hours in advance, which caused considerable trouble and confusion for passengers at the last minute.

Change in reservation chart preparation time for the first time

The Railways has changed the reservation chart preparation time for the first time to provide passengers with advance information about their journey and reservation status, and especially to reduce the anxiety of passengers coming from far-off places. Necessary instructions have been issued to all zonal railway divisions in this regard. Previously, the chart was prepared 4 hours before departure. Until now, the rule for preparing reservation charts in the railways was that the first reservation chart was prepared approximately 4 hours before the train's departure. This meant that passengers on the waiting list or RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) would only find out at the very last minute whether they had received a confirmed seat.

Passengers faced inconvenience.

This old system caused considerable inconvenience, especially for passengers coming from distant places to the station. Often, passengers would arrive at the station before the chart was prepared, only to find out later that their ticket was not confirmed. This not only resulted in a waste of time and money but also increased uncertainty and stress regarding their journey.

Summary

The railways had been receiving complaints from passengers for a long time that the late preparation of the chart prevented them from making proper travel plans.  It is for this reason that the chart preparation time has now been changed.
