Amid the escalating debate surrounding the hijab issue, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has affirmed that the government will carefully consider the matter before arriving at a decision.

Clarifying the government's stance, Parameshwara stated "We have not issued any orders regarding the hijab. CM Siddaramaiah himself stated that even if it is done, we will scrutinize it. The government will make a decision after a thorough examination."

Criticism of the Congress-led Karnataka government mounted as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao accused the Siddaramaiah government of not yet lifting the ban on hijab in the state, emphasizing that they are still contemplating the decision.

"They have not lifted the ban on hijab yet, and the CM has stated that they are considering it. People are observing the behavior of Congress—what they say before coming to power and how they change after gaining power," remarked KTR.

The hijab issue regained prominence after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared in a public meeting that his government would revoke the ban on hijab imposed by the previous BJP government.

"We are considering withdrawing the decision (of hijab ban). We will deliberate on it. I have said this in response to a question. We have not done it yet," stated the Chief Minister.

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai accused current CM Siddaramaiah of concealing the failures of his government and politicizing the issue for personal gain.

He addressed reporters, asserting that the hijab was not banned across the state but was restricted in areas with a dress code. Muslim women are allowed to wear the hijab everywhere.

"When the hijab is not banned, where is the question of lifting the ban?" questioned Bommai.

The previous BJP government in the state had imposed a hijab ban on students in educational institutions. The matter reached the Karnataka High Court, which upheld the ban imposed by the then-BJP government. The Supreme Court delivered a split verdict in this regard, affirming the Karnataka High Court's decision.
