Happy Teachers Day: Every year on 5 September, the birth anniversary of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as National Teachers Day. The purpose of the National Teacher Award is to honor the unique contribution of teachers in the country This is a profession in which a guru imparts knowledge to his disciples. The guru not only gives knowledge of various subjects to the child but also helps in identifying his strengths and weaknesses, which helps him to become a better person.

There have been many great gurus in our country whose contribution, talent and skills have been acknowledged globally. Here we will give you  information about great teachers of India, whose knowledge has been acknowledged by the world. These gurus have waved their flag all over the world.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan

This day is celebrated in honor of the first Vice President and second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a renowned educationist, great philosopher and a devout Hindu thinker. He was awarded the prestigious award Bharat Ratna.

 Savitribai Phule

She was India's first female teacher, social reformer and Marathi poet. Along with her husband Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, she did remarkable work in the field of women's rights and education. Savitribai Phule is called the pioneer of modern Marathi poetry. She established a school for girls in the year 1848.

Swami Vivekananda

He was a visionary leader, while Swami Vivekananda was a renowned and influential spiritual guru of Vedanta. He represented Sanatan Dharma on behalf of India in the World Religion Conference held in Chicago, America in 1893. Swami Vivekananda principle was Arise, awake and do not stop till you achieve your goal'.

Chanakya

There is hardly any guru like Chanakya in the world, who saw a future king in a small child. Chanakya is counted among the first famous scholars of India. His educational journey began as a professor of political science and economics at Takshila University, which is located in the area that is now part of Pakistan. Chanakya is also known as Kautilya.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

He was a distinguished scientist and the 11th President of India. He always advocated education, he firmly believed that education should not revolve around only acquiring academic qualifications but should also include the enhancement of personal skills and abilities, so that the youth get a shape for life along with career.

Teachers will be honored

The President Draupadi Murmu will honor 82 selected teachers with 'Shikshak Puraskar  at Vigyan Bhavan here on Thursday. 16 teachers from higher educational institutions and polytechnics have also been selected for the 'Shikshak Puraskar
