Akshaya Navami 2025 Story: Akshaya Navami, observed on October 31, 2025, coincides with the highly auspicious Ravi Yoga, which prevails throughout the day. As per Hindu beliefs, performing Amla Puja, donating Amla, and eating under the Amla tree on this day bestows Akshaya Punya—eternal virtue that never diminishes. It is said that nectar drops fall from the Amla tree on this day, making it sacred and beneficial for one’s health and wellbeing.

Divine Origin from Padma Purana

The Padma Purana mentions that Lord Kartikeya, son of Lord Shiva, was told by his father that the Amla tree is the abode of Lord Vishnu, the protector of the universe. Hence, worshipping the Amla tree on Akshaya Navami is considered equivalent to performing a Go-Daan (cow donation), one of the most sacred acts in Hinduism.

Tale of King Amla Raja

Once, there lived a noble king who donated one and a quarter maunds of Amla daily before eating. His pious act earned him the name Amla Raja. Because of his devotion, his kingdom prospered, and his treasury remained full. However, his son and daughter-in-law, fearing that such constant donations would deplete their wealth, urged the king to stop his daily offering.

The King’s Departure to the Forest

Saddened by his son’s words, the king, along with the queen, left the palace and retreated into the forest. Bound by their vow of charity, they refrained from eating since they had no Amla to donate. For seven days, they endured hunger and weakness, praying earnestly to Lord Vishnu.

Divine Miracle by Lord Vishnu

On the seventh day, Lord Vishnu appeared and created a magnificent palace, a prosperous kingdom, and lush Amla gardens in the forest. When the king and queen awoke, they were amazed to see this divine miracle. The king said, “Truth and faith should never be abandoned.” They resumed their Amla donation and lived peacefully in their new kingdom.

Son’s Downfall and Realization

Meanwhile, back in the capital, the son and daughter-in-law disrespected the Amla deity and their parents. Their fortune reversed—enemies seized their kingdom, and they were left destitute. Seeking refuge, they unknowingly reached their father’s new realm, where the king, not recognizing them, hired them as servants.

Reunion and Moral of the Story

One day, while braiding the queen’s hair, the daughter-in-law recognized a mole on her mother-in-law’s back and realized their true identity. Overcome with guilt, she wept and confessed everything. The king and queen forgave them and taught, “Charity never reduces wealth—it multiplies it.” The family reunited and lived happily, upholding the virtue of generosity.

Spiritual Message of Akshaya Navami

The story of Akshaya Navami teaches that charity, faith, and devotion lead to everlasting prosperity. Worshipping and donating Amla symbolizes purity, truth, and divine grace. Observing this sacred day with sincerity invites Akshaya (never-ending) blessings into one’s life.
