Banks are open and functioning as usual on Saturday, April 4, as it falls on the first Saturday of the month.

There is often confusion about Saturday bank closures. As per guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India, banks remain closed only on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

Since April 4 is the first Saturday, regular banking services, including branch operations, are available to customers across the country.

Online banking services continue to remain accessible at all times. Customers can use internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs, and UPI services to carry out transactions such as fund transfers and bill payments without visiting a branch.

Banking unions have been demanding a five-day work week for several years. Employee bodies have urged the government and the Reserve Bank of India to adopt a Monday-to-Friday schedule, citing workload and work-life balance concerns. No final decision has been taken so far, and the current system remains in place.
