What is a vegan diet?
A vegan diet means giving up all animal products, such as meat, poultry, eggs, and other products that come from animals. Many factors have contributed to the rise in popularity of the vegan diet. However, a few of the specific ones are health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. Around the world, on the occasion of World Vegan Day, a variety of events are held, including seminars, workshops showcasing vegan cuisine, educational sessions discussing the advantages of going vegan, and many more.
History
According to vegan-day.org, vegan animal rights activist Louise Wallis founded "The Vegan Society" on November 1, 1994, to promote veganism and a plant-based diet. She was looking for an appropriate location to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Vegan Society. This marked the beginning of World Vegan Day. She aimed to draw attention to the survival of a vegan organization as well as the adoption of the term "vegan" in the English language in her capacity as President of the Vegan Society.
Benefits of being Vegan:

Because vegan diets are lower in calories than foods derived from animals, reaching a healthy weight without actively trying to cut calories is made easier. Epidemiological studies have connected increased fruit and vegetable consumption—which are essentials of a vegan diet—to better skin health. These foods are rich in plant defense chemicals called polyphenols and vital nutrients like vitamins C and E that support healthy skin.
