Nipah Virus Update: Schools colleges closed in Kozhikode until 24 Sept
Administration in Kerala's Kozhikode has made the decision to close all educational institutions till next week 24 September. The district administration took these steps to contain the virus and prevent it from Spreading. a total of 6 cases of Nipah Virus have been reported so far. Among these six, four cases are still active. These four people are undergoing treatment for this virus.
All educational institutions including schools , colleges and tuitions will remains close for the entire next week. The district administration has ensured that these institutions to run online classes for the next week.
Health minister of Kerala veena George has informed that a total 1,080 people are among the people contacted by infected. among these, 327 are health workers. the health minister said that all restrictions and protocols are in place in Kozhikode and situating is well managed. A total of 9 teams are working hard in the district. She advised people to wear masks, maintain social distancing and take medical advice in case of experiencing symptoms such as cold, fever and headache.
17 people who attended cremation of the deceased, who died fighting Nipha Virus are practicing isolation. Hospitals treating patients infected with virus have to submit daily reports according to protocols.

The government of Karnataka has advice people to restrain from going to contaminated areas in Kerala if not necessary. They have also increase surveillance near border area of g Kodagu, Dakshin Kannada, Chamrajanagara, and Mysore.
The Nipah virus strain detected in Kerala belongs to the Bangladesh variant, which exhibits a unique profile characterized by high mortality rates despite lower infectivity among humans. This deadly virus, for which there is currently no available vaccine, primarily spreads through direct contact with the bodily fluids of infected bats, pigs, or humans. Shockingly, it carries a daunting mortality rate of up to 75% among those unfortunate enough to contract it.
