Food Adulteration: The Yogi government has now ordered, police verification in dhabas restaurants and has asked to put up boards. Though this new order of the Yogi government is being considered as version-2 of the order for nameplates on street vendors. While two months ago, a order was issued during the Kanwar Yatra.

UP government new order  

The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday has given instructions to take strict action against those who adulterate food items with waste things. The government says that cognizance has been taken of such incidents that have happened in different parts of the country. In a high level meeting in Lucknow, the CM has also given instructions for thorough investigation and verification of all eaters and other establishments in the state. He also gave instructions to amend the rules as per the need keeping in view the health safety of the general public.

Incidents of adulteration in food items

Recently, incidents of adulteration in food items have come to the fore. Urine was found kept in a juice shop in Ghaziabad. It was alleged that the shopkeeper used to mix urine in juice. On September 12, an alleged video of a teenager spitting on rotis while making them in a restaurant in Saharanpur district went viral.

Nameplates are again in the news in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government has now ordered police verification in every eaters of the state. In June, two people were arrested in Noida for selling juice contaminated with spit. The government gave instructions to take strict action in these cases. Now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to make changes in the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Main points of UP government order

The names  of the operator, proprietor or  manager, will be prominently displayed at food establishments.

Food Safety and Standards Act will also be amended as per the need.

CCTV should be arranged in food establishments.

Cleanliness should be maintained at food centers.

This a dictatorial step- SP leader

In the meanwhile politics also heated on this new order of CM Yogi. The SP MLA from Lucknow Central Ravidas Mehrotra said, the purpose of this step is to reduce the sales of people from Dalit, backward and minority communities. Therefore, this dictatorial step has been taken.

The wrong practice of taking money upfront should be stopped

Though UP Congress chief Ajay Rai also said, that the GSTIN number on the nameplate of the hotel/restaurant owner already has all the details and the government has it. As far as food items are concerned, they should be checked.
