Many people love to drink coffee, and they drink many cups of coffee throughout the day without counting. However, if everything is consumed in a balanced way, it does not harm the body. But if anything is consumed excessively, it becomes harmful to health.

Meanwhile, a strange case of a 37-year-old woman from London has come to light, where this coffee addict woman suddenly stopped drinking coffee.

Woman used to drink 12 cups of coffee a day

After some time of doing this, the woman started having severe headache and brain fog. At first the woman felt that she had stopped taking caffeine, due to which she was facing all these problems. But then the situation worsened so much that the woman had to undergo several tests, which revealed that the woman had brain cancer. T

The woman's name is Abby Feltham and she was so addicted to coffee that she used to drink 12 cups a day. However, when she completely quit caffeine, many changes came in her life, for which she was not at all prepared.

Abby is suffering from grade 3 oligodendroglioma

When her vision became blurred to a certain extent, she was unable to see at all. In such a situation, she started needing someone to walk around, so Abby got herself checked up, which revealed that her optic nerves were swollen, which was a sign of something causing pressure in her brain.

However, after this, Abby went for her first surgery. The doctors removed the cyst that was putting pressure on her brain.

But even after this, Abby's problems did not go away. Her cancer was so aggressive that after two weeks she started having problems again. For this, he underwent another surgery, after which he found out that he was suffering from incurable grade 3 oligodendroglioma. This is a type of brain tumor in which a person can survive only for 15 years.

What is oligodendroglioma?

Oligodendroglioma is a rare brain tumor, which forms in cells called oligodendrocytes present in the brain and spinal cord. These cells form a layer called myelin around neurons (nerves), which helps in sending neural signals faster. When abnormal growth starts in these cells, a tumor is formed. This tumor is slow growing but can grow over time and affect brain function.

The symptoms of oligodendroglioma depend on the size and location of the tumor. Its common symptoms may include headache, seizures, weakness, speech or memory problems. It is diagnosed with MRI and biopsy. Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy are used for treatment. Getting treatment at the right time can improve the patient's quality of life.

What causes oligodendrogliomas?

The exact cause of oligodendrogliomas is not yet fully known, but it occurs when genetic mutations occur in the oligodendrocyte cells of the brain. In particular, changes in the genes called IDH1 and IDH2 and a genetic change called 1p/19q co-deletion are associated with it.

These mutations can trigger cells to grow uncontrollably and form tumors. However, research is still going on about what causes these mutations.

Some risk factors can increase it, such as radiation exposure, genetic predisposition and exposure to certain chemicals.

Summary

However, lifestyle factors such as diet or stress are not seen as a direct cause of this tumor. In most cases, oligodendroglioma develops for no apparent reason, so there is currently no sure way to prevent it.
