Heavy Rain caused flooding in Low lying areas of Islamabad
On Tuesday, Rawalpindi and Islamabad faced heavy rain for a long duration. High winds and rainfall have caused destruction in the twin cities.
The long spells of rainfall caused waterlogging in low-lying areas Islamabad and rawalpindi. The weather caused uprooting trees and increased water level in Nullah Leh by over 7 feet.
The continuous rain started at midnight caused a heavy temperature drop to 29 degrees. According to authorieites, the situation was kept under control by maintaining the level of the Nullah.
According to officials, the city recived scarce rainfall this monsoon. Windspped in Islamabad reached to 43knots which is 83kmph. Chaklala and Rawalpindi recoding wind speed of 107-110kmph blowing form north to west.
The storm and wind speed did not broke nay previous records as compared to 148kmph of windspeed in May in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Apart from destroying trees, the rainfall and storm also damaged the electrical equipment causing power cut in many locations. Even though trees suffered breakout from the wind, only a few of them were uprooted. around 25 trees suffered damages.
Trees like Mulberry, Shisham, Pine also suffered breakouts. During daytime, the authorities starting working to clear roads which were cluttered by broken branches and uprooted trees.
The country is already facing harsh issues like economic crisis, high petrol and diesel bills, and even food rates and now this has added to the problems of citizens.
