Humanitarian Boost: COGAT Transfers 142 Aid Trucks and 80,000 Vaccines to Gaza"
In a recent development, the Israeli agency COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories: Judea and Samaria and towards the Gaza Strip) disclosed that a significant amount of humanitarian aid, consisting of 218 trucks, successfully crossed into the Gaza Strip on Monday, December 25.
The meticulous inspection and subsequent transfer of aid trucks were part of Israel's ongoing efforts to support the people of Gaza. Notably, 142 trucks underwent inspection at the Nitzana Crossing and were then conveyed to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing, situated within Egyptian territory.
Additionally, 76 trucks underwent inspection and were directed to Gaza via the recently inaugurated Kerem Shalom crossing, strategically located at the convergence point of the Egyptian, Israeli, and Gazan borders.
In a parallel initiative, COGAT reported a vital contribution to the health sector in Gaza as 80,000 vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella arrived in the region on Sunday, December 24. The vaccines, generously donated by UNICEF - the UN Children's Fund, are expected to play a crucial role in safeguarding the health of the population in Gaza.
This coordinated effort marks a continuation of Israel's commitment to facilitating cross-border operations, ensuring the timely delivery of humanitarian aid, and addressing health concerns in the Gaza Strip.
