In a recent incident, Hamas terrorists targeted Israeli soldiers from a Gaza school where civilians were seeking refuge, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Saturday night.

Gaza School a hideout site

Al Bureij Refugee Camp, Central Gaza: Operating in the Al Bureij refugee camp, soldiers from the IDF's 188th Brigade's combat team encountered Hamas squads firing from buildings. The IDF had received intelligence indicating that dozens of Hamas terrorists were using a Gaza school with a civilian population as cover for their activities.

IDF Statement "Exploiting the presence of civilians, the terrorists fired RPGs and small arms at IDF forces, strategically hiding behind women and children during the attack."

Swift IDF Response and Counteraction

188th Brigade's Combat Team Operation: In response to the imminent threat, the 188th Brigade's combat team executed a raid on the school, resulting in the arrest of numerous terrorists involved in the attack. The operation also uncovered at least nine tunnel shafts within the UNRWA refugee camp.

Parallel Action Against Hezbollah in Lebanon

Kfarkela, Lebanese Village: Simultaneously, on Saturday, Israeli fighter jets targeted Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the vicinity of Kfarkela, a Lebanese village across the border from Metula. This action was a response to the ongoing rocket attacks by Hezbollah.

Casualties from Previous Attacks: The move follows the reported 1,200 casualties in Hamas's attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7.

Ongoing Captivity Concerns and Search Efforts

Current Captivity Numbers: The number of individuals held captive in Gaza by Hamas is estimated to be 129, encompassing men, women, children, soldiers, and foreigners.

Search and Identification Efforts: Meanwhile, Israeli authorities continue their active efforts to identify bodies and search for human remains, as some individuals remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the attacks.
