This evening, between
Mandvi in Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan, Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to make
landfall. Both India and Pakistan will feel the effects of this cyclone. Both
nations have plans in place to mitigate the impact of Biparjoy on their
territories. On the one hand, Prime Minister Modi is personally monitoring
Biparjoy in India; while on the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is
leading meetings.

On the other hand, Pakistan is still not taking Biparjoy
seriously; Pakistan’s indifference toward this storm is regarded as
irresponsible.

Both India and Pakistan
have been devastated by Cyclone Biparjoy. If this cyclone makes landfall
between Mandvi and Karachi, it is difficult to predict how much damage it will
create. So let’s examine the preparations.

The government of India
is actively implementing pre-cyclone preparations, during-cyclone safety
measures, and post-cyclone recovery efforts.

Concerning India, a
security plan has been developed under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi to deal with Cyclone Biparjoy, and this plan is also being closely
monitored by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure there are no hiccups in
its implementation.

The Minister of Health for India, Mansukhbhai Mandaviya, is
touring various coastal locations to assess the situation.

In the Kutch area, more
than 47,000 people moved into homes for refugees. All of the women who were
pregnant were taken to hospitals and other safe places.

The army is prepared
with all supplies, including food packets and water bottles, to ensure that people
in affected areas do not experience any food or drink shortages. Over 40,000
food containers, 2,000 kilogrammes of milk powder, and 45,000 tetrapacks of
milk are being prepared for distribution to the affected individuals.

 In order to prevent
civil unrest in the coastal areas, stringent police measures have been
imposed. The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, and the Union Home
Minister, Amit Shah, conduct periodic review meetings to monitor the storm’s
intensity.

Over the past week,
eight ministers, including Home Minister Harsh Shanghvi, have visited the
likely affected areas in an effort to ensure zero casualties. The government
has relocated residents from around 120 villages in the Kutch district that
were less than 10 kilometers from the coast.

Alongside the state
administration, the BJP organization, led by CR Patil, is working in
potentially affected regions. Over 30,000 individuals have been relocated to
secure areas in Saurashtra, where Biparjoy is most likely to be affected. All
shelter homes have police, medical services, food, and drink. Teams of NDRF, SDRF,
Marine, BSF, and Army deployed in prone areas. 17 NDRF teams and 12 SDRF teams
have been deployed in Biparjoy’s potentially affected areas.

 The situation in India
entailed this. However, the Pakistani government has yet to show any
sincerity regarding Biparjoy. Let’s analyse what steps Pakistan took in
response to Cyclone Biparjoy?

The Pakistani military
is currently in a state of complete confusion. It is hard to say how much
damage will be done to Pakistan because of the government’s carelessness. There
is no roadmap for how to deal with the damage that storm Biparjoy will cause.

This country is already
starving, so it’s not wrong to say that this storm will destroy Pakistan. Pakistan
is getting caught up in internal politics instead of facing the storm. People
living in aid camps consistently claim that no arrangements have been made for
them.
The
Pakistani army is not ready for a storm.

Pakistan doesn’t have
enough food packs or the tools needed to help the people who suffered harm
from the cyclone. There’s nothing wrong with saying that this storm will
set Pakistan back 20 years.

The Pakistani press is
also reporting that the government is not taking Biparjoy seriously. India has
offered assistance in order to deal with the crisis. Since Pakistan lacks its
own Meteorological Department, India is assisting Pakistan in its cyclone
response by sending reports every three hours.
