The external affairs ministry has said that the government has launched a probe regarding inputs provided by the American government over the allegations of India's involvement in the attempt to kill the khalistani terrorist in US soil.

According to reports, United States has warned India about India's involvement in the foiled attempt of killing khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Pannun is a designated terrorist by India who resides in Canada.

The Spokesperson of the the Ministry of external affairs, Arindam Bagchi said that  “In this context, it is informed that on November 18, the Government of India constituted a high-level Enquiry Committee to look into all the relevant aspects of the matter.”

The ministry also clarified that India takes such inputs very seriously as it is also has the capacity to harm the national security of India. “We had also indicated that India takes such inputs seriously since they impinge on our national security interests as well, and relevant departments were already examining the issue.”

He also said “We have already said that during the course of discussions with the US on bilateral security cooperation, the US side shared some inputs pertaining to nexus between organized criminals, gun runners, terrorists and others.”

This development comes as India and Canada's relation soured over Canada's allegations on India for being involved in the killing of the Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada accused India for involvement in the case in late September.
