India Records 312 New Covid Cases, Highest Single-Day Surge Since May 31
In a concerning development, India reported 312 new coronavirus cases in a single day, marking the highest daily surge since May 31, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.
As of 8 am, the total number of active cases has risen to 1,296, adding to the ongoing challenges faced by the country in its battle against the pandemic. The grim statistics also revealed that the death toll in India has reached 5,33,310.
The cumulative Covid-19 case tally in the country now stands at a staggering 4.50 crore (4,50,04,142). On a positive note, 4,44,69,536 individuals have successfully recovered from the virus, contributing to a national recovery rate of 98.81 percent, as reported by the health ministry's website.
The case fatality rate, however, remains a concern at 1.19 percent, indicating a significant impact on those infected. Health officials continue to monitor and manage the situation as the country navigates through the challenges posed by the virus.
In efforts to curb the spread of the virus and protect the population, India has administered an impressive 220.67 crore doses of the Covid vaccine. This vaccination drive remains a crucial aspect of the nation's strategy in combating the pandemic.
