Indian Army Chief Manoj Pande on November 2, Thursday said that India is looking forward to establishing Defence Wings at new locations in different parts of the world. This development will be aimed at developing defence cooperation with other countries.

The Indian Army Chief made these comments while addressing the audience at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi.

Organised by the Centre of Land Warfare Studies along with the Indian Army, the Chanakya Defence Dialogue is a flagship National Security Event.

The chief said that India understands its role in the military domain when it comes to the multilateral engagement architecture. India is keen to increase the scope and scale of joint exercises, interoperability, sub-regional perspectives and sharing of best practices with friendly countries.

He further said "To give a fillip to our defence cooperation outreach, we are establishing Defence Wings at new locations across the world. Our national resolve to achieve self-reliance in defence hardware is also being enabled by a resurgent Indian Defence Industry."

"We are now faced with an escalating conflict in West Asia. These instabilities and challenges are compounded by notable economic turbulence and the weaponisation of a multitude of attributes and domains from information to supply chains.  Issues like radicalisation, terrorism, piracy, illegal migration, refugees and climate change, add to the bouquet of global concerns" said the Chief.

He also stressed that since India shares common values such as democracy and human rights with friendly nations, it creates a strong foundation for cooperative security efforts.
