Indian Men's Hockey Team Receives Warm Welcome at Delhi Airport
The Indian Men’s Hockey team received a hero’s welcome upon arriving at Delhi airport with their Olympic bronze medal. They secured their second consecutive bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 on August 8, marking their first win against Spain in 52 years.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh expressed his emotions to reporters, stating that winning a medal for the country was a significant accomplishment. He mentioned that while the team had aimed for gold, they did not reach the final. Despite this, he noted that securing back-to-back bronze medals was a remarkable achievement. He also mentioned the special moment for PR Sreejesh, who played his final match and will continue to support the team in the future. Harmanpreet thanked the Indian government, SAI, and the Odisha government for their support, promising to strive for more medals in the future.
Recognition for PR Sreejesh
PR Sreejesh, the celebrated hockey goalkeeper, has been honored as India’s joint flag-bearer for the closing ceremony of the Olympics, sharing the role with shooter Manu Bhaker, who won two bronze medals in shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Reward from Madhya Pradesh
In recognition of their achievement, the Madhya Pradesh government has announced a ₹1 crore reward for Vivek Sagar Prasad, a member of the Indian hockey team. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called Vivek to congratulate him and the team, praising their performance and confirming the financial reward.
