Indian Minister to Visit Pakistan for SCO Summit
India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will head a delegation to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, set to be held in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. This visit is noteworthy as it marks the first high-level Indian trip to Pakistan in almost five years.

During a press conference on Friday, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced that Minister Jaishankar will attend the summit. This visit comes after an invitation was extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Pakistan for the same event.
Historical Context
This will be the first visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to Pakistan since 2015. The last minister to make a high-level visit was the late Sushma Swaraj, who attended a security conference on Afghanistan in Islamabad that year.
