Indian student Varun stabbed in US gym, suspect claims victim was 'Weird'
Varun Raj Pucha, a 24-year-old Computer Science student at Valparaiso University in Indiana, tragically lost his life after being stabbed in the head by Jordan Andrade, 24, at a public gym on October 29.
Valparaiso University expressed deep sorrow over Varun's passing and extended condolences to his family and friends. The private university is planning a remembrance and memorial service on campus for Varun on November 16.
In a statement, the university conveyed its heavy hearts, acknowledging the devastating loss within the campus community. They are in constant communication with Varun's family, offering support during this incredibly challenging time and requesting thoughts and prayers for the grieving family.
Varun, pursuing a Master's in Computer Science, had commenced his studies in the United States in August 2022. Unfortunately, his health did not improve after the attack, and he remained on life support with limited movement on one side of his body. Despite efforts, Varun Raj Pucha passed away at a hospital in Fort Wayne.
The university expressed its deepest condolences to Varun's family and emphasized its thoughts and prayers for their healing during this painful period. Varun, originally from Telangana's Khammam, was expected to return home upon completing his course next year.
