The country's total COVID-19-related fatalities reached 5,33,334 (5.33 lakh), with one new death reported in Kerala within the preceding 24 hours.

The health ministry's 8 am update indicated a robust national recovery rate of 98.81%, reflecting 4,44,71,860 (4.44 crore) individuals who have successfully recuperated from the disease. The case fatality rate was reported at 1.19%, providing insight into the severity of the virus.

In the ongoing efforts to combat the pandemic, India has administered a substantial number of COVID-19 vaccine doses. According to the health ministry website, a total of 220.67 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country, highlighting the progress in the vaccination drive.

As the nation continues to navigate the challenges posed by the virus, monitoring these statistics becomes crucial for public health officials and the general population alike. The reported figures serve as vital indicators of the ongoing impact of COVID-19 in India, reflecting both the successes in recovery and the challenges posed by the active caseload and new cases.

As the nation grapples with a surge in COVID-19 cases, Karnataka reported 73 new infections on Sunday, as per data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website. This brings the total number of active cases in the state to 344, accompanied by four COVID-19-related deaths reported since December 15. Responding to the escalating situation, the Karnataka government, on Friday, established a four-member cabinet sub-committee led by Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. The primary objective of this committee is to oversee and implement measures aimed at curbing the further spread of COVID-19.
